Information on the collection of personal data and legal notice according to § 5 Telemediengesetz (TMG) and § 18 Medienstaatsvertrag (MStV)

Scope of application

This privacy policy informs users about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the responsible provider Stiftung Bethel, Königsweg 1, 33617 Bielefeld, phone: +49 521 144-3512, e-mail: presse[at]bethel.de on this website (hereinafter referred to as "offer"). As a church organisation, the responsible provider is subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act of the Protestant Church in Germany (DSG-EKD).

Access data/ server log files

The provider (or its web space provider) collects data about every access to the website (so-called server log files). The access data includes:

Name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.

The provider uses the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operation, security and optimisation of the website. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data retrospectively if there is a justified suspicion of unlawful use based on concrete evidence.

Making contact

When contacting the provider (e.g. via contact form or email), the user's details are stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event that follow-up questions arise.

Comments and contributions

If users leave comments in the guestbook or other contributions, their IP addresses are stored. This is done for the security of the provider in case someone writes illegal content in comments and posts (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.). In this case, the provider itself may be prosecuted for the comment or post and is therefore interested in the identity of the author.

Purposes for which personal data is processed

In connection with the visit to our homepage, data about the person visiting the homepage may be collected, recorded, stored, processed, queried, used and transmitted.

Overall, this is referred to as the "processing" of personal data. This term "processing" forms the generic term for all these activities. For data protection reasons, the processing of user data is only possible if a legal basis prescribes or permits this or if the user concerned has given their consent.

The following data processing may take place when the user uses our website:

When our website is accessed, information is automatically sent to the server of our website by the browser used on the user's device. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file.

The following information is collected without any action on the part of the user and stored until it is automatically deleted:
iP address of the requesting computer,
date and time of access,
name and URL of the retrieved file,
website from which access is made (referrer URL),
browser used and the operating system of your computer as well as the name of your access provider.

The aforementioned data is processed by us for the following purposes
Ensuring a smooth connection to the website,
Ensuring convenient use of our website,
Analysing system security and stability
and for other administrative purposes.

The legal basis for data processing is § 6 No. 4 DSG-EKD. Our legitimate interest follows from the data collection purposes listed above. Under no circumstances do we use the data collected for the purpose of drawing conclusions about the user's identity.

We also use cookies and analysis services when you visit our website. You will find more detailed explanations in the following paragraph "Analysis/tracking tools".

Persons under the age of 18 should not transmit any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. We do not request personal data from children and young people, do not collect it and do not pass it on to third parties.

Who has access to the data?

The persons entrusted with public relations work at the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel and, in the event of maintenance, employees of our IT Service Centre (DLZ IT) have access to stored data.

The user data is processed by specialised public relations personnel or under their responsibility. This specialised staff is subject to a duty of confidentiality and has been obliged to maintain data secrecy in accordance with Section 26 DSG-EKD.

The confidential handling of user data is guaranteed.

Legal basis for the processing of personal data

In particular, the so-called EKD Data Protection Act (DSG-EKD) is mentioned here, e.g. Section 6 DSG-EKD, according to which, according to Section 4, processing is necessary for public perception, e.g. for the public, as it is in the interest of the organisation as the body responsible for processing.

In addition, processing is also permitted in cases where users have given us their separate consent.

Possible recipients of collected data

The user data is collected within the scope of the intended purpose in compliance with the respective data protection regulations or any declarations of consent and, if necessary, transmitted to third parties. Such third parties include, in particular, external data processors (so-called contract processors), such as web hosts, i.e. companies that support our homepage and thus the Internet presence as service providers.

Security

We have taken technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access. All our employees and all third parties involved in data processing are obliged to comply with the DSG-EKD and to handle personal data confidentially.

When personal data is collected and processed, the information is transmitted in encrypted form to prevent misuse of the data by third parties. Our security measures are continuously revised in line with technological developments.

Comments and contributions

When users leave comments in the guestbook or other contributions, their IP addresses are stored. This is done for the security of the provider in case someone writes illegal content in comments and posts (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.). In this case, the provider itself can be prosecuted for the comment or post and is therefore interested in the identity of the author.

Cookies

When users access the website, one or more cookies are stored on their computer. A cookie is a small file that contains a specific character string and uniquely identifies your browser. The provider uses cookies to improve the convenience and quality of its services, for example by storing user settings. Cookies do not cause any damage to the user's computer and do not contain viruses.

It is also possible to use the website without cookies. Users can deactivate the storage of cookies in their browser, restrict them to certain websites or set their browser to notify them before a cookie is stored. You can delete cookies from your computer's hard drive at any time using your browser's data protection functions. In this case, the functions and user-friendliness of the website may be restricted.

Analysis/tracking tools

The tracking measures listed below and used by us are carried out on the basis of § 6 DSG-EKD. With the tracking measures used, we want to ensure a needs-based design and the continuous optimisation of our website. On the other hand, we use the tracking measures to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our offer for you. These interests are to be regarded as legitimate within the meaning of the aforementioned provision.

The respective data processing purposes and data categories can be found in the corresponding tracking tools.

Piwik

Our website uses Piwik, which is a so-called web analysis service. Piwik uses so-called "cookies", which are text files that are stored on your computer and enable us to analyse the use of the website. For this purpose, the usage information generated by the cookie (including your shortened IP address) is transmitted to our server and stored for usage analysis purposes, which helps us to optimise our website. Your IP address is immediately anonymised during this process so that you as a user remain anonymous to us. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is not passed on to third parties. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

If you do not agree to the storage and analysis of this data from your visit, you can object to its storage and use at any time by clicking below. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be stored in your browser, which means that Piwik will not collect any session data. Please note: If you delete your cookies, the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and may have to be reactivated by you. (Source: www.datenschutzbeauftragter-info.de)

Links to social media platforms

The v. Bodelschwingsche Stiftungen Bethel do not use so-called social plugins for all websites managed by the Press & Communications department. The links to Bethel's central Facebook presence are created exclusively via an image link element that does not pass on any personal data such as IP addresses to this or other networks.

However, if you are logged into Facebook with your personal user account while visiting any website - for example ours - information may be forwarded to Facebook and stored there. To prevent this, you must first log out of your Facebook account. The same applies to numerous other web services (Google, etc.).

Google Adwords Conversion Tracking

We also use Google Conversion Tracking to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our website for you. Google Adwords places a cookie (see section 4) on your computer if you have reached our website via a Google advert.

These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of the Adwords customer's website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the customer can recognise that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

Each Adwords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of Adwords customers. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for Adwords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Adwords customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their advert and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse the setting of a cookie required for this - for example, by changing your browser settings to generally deactivate the automatic setting of cookies. You can also deactivate cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser so that cookies from the domain"www.googleadservices.com"are blocked. Google's privacy policy on conversion tracking can be found here(https://services.google.com/sitestats/de.html).

Right to information, correction, deletion, etc.

The user of our website is entitled to so-called data subject rights, i.e. rights that the user can exercise as a data subject in individual cases. The user can assert these rights against the controller. They arise from the DSG-EKD:

Right to information, Section 19 DSG-EKD
the user has the right to information about the personal data stored concerning him/her.

If a user discovers that incorrect personal data relating to them is being processed, they can request rectification. Incomplete data must be completed, taking into account the purpose of the processing.

Right to erasure, Section 21 DSG-EKD
Users have the right to request the erasure of their data if certain grounds for erasure apply. This is particularly the case if they are no longer required for the purpose for which they were originally collected or processed.

Right to restriction of processing, Section 22 DSG-EKD
A user has the right to restrict the processing of their data. This means that their data will not be deleted, but will be labelled in order to restrict its further processing or use.

Right to object to unreasonable data processing, Section 25 DSG-EKD
The user also has a general right to object to lawful data processing that is carried out in the public interest, in the exercise of official authority or on the basis of the legitimate interest of a body.

Revocation of consents granted

Users of our website have the right to withdraw their consent to data processing at any time. This declaration can be sent in writing to the responsible body (see address below). No reasons need to be given for this. However, a cancellation is only valid from the point in time at which it is made. It has no retroactive effect. The processing of personal data up to this point in time remains lawful.

If required or if there are any questions, the data subject can contact the local data protection officer, co. Legal/Insurance Department of the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel, Königsweg 1, 33617 Bielefeld, Tel. 0521-144-3069.
