Frequently asked questions
Donations
Thanks to donations, children with life-shortening illnesses and their families can receive qualified and caring support. In addition to providing loving support and medical care, a team also looks after the affected siblings, who don't always receive the attention they need when the family is caring for a sick child. Without donations, the work of the Bethel children's hospice would not be possible. Around €3,000 in donations are needed every day! With your support, we can help terminally ill children and their families. Thank you for your contribution!
Yes, donations to the Bethel children's hospice are tax-deductible.
The v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel is tax-exempt for the promotion of charitable, ecclesiastical and non-profit purposes recognised as particularly worthy of support in accordance with the notice of exemption or the annex to the corporation tax assessment of the Bielefeld-Außenstadt tax office, StNr. 349/5995/0015, dated 23 February 2022 for the last assessment period 2020 in accordance with Section 5 (1) No. 9 of the German Corporation Tax Act (Körperschaftsteuergesetz) and Section 3 No. 6 of the German Trade Tax Act (Gewerbesteuergesetz).
For donations of up to €300, the bank statement from your bank is valid as a donation receipt for the tax office.
However, at the request of many friends and supporters, we send a donation receipt by post for donations of €20 or more.
Alongside the DZI, the German Donations Council (Deutscher Spendenrat e.V.) is committed to greater transparency in the German donation system. The German Donations Council is an umbrella organisation of charitable organisations that collect donations. Its members are private and church organisations. Bethel is a founding member of the German Donations Council. Every year, all members of this association are audited by independent auditors in all important areas of the donation system. The aim of the Donations Council is to uphold and promote ethical principles in the donations sector in Germany and to ensure the proper, fiduciary handling of donations through voluntary self-regulation in accordance with the principles.
The v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel has once again been awarded the German Donations Council's donation certificate. The award is preceded by a detailed audit by external auditors. The certificate is only awarded if they certify that the donations, bequests and fines are used for the intended purpose, economically and frugally.
By using this certificate, the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel confirms, to the best of its knowledge and belief, the proper, fiduciary and responsible handling of donations. They will continue to observe and comply with the statutes, principles and annexes and the voluntary commitment of the German Donations Council.
